Sock Monkeys in Japan invite their friends to their 4th of July Beach Party! (by martian cat)

Today is the day the sock monkeys planned to celebrate the 4th of July with a beach party. The sock monkeys have invited their friends to join them at the beach. They have been so busy with making their plans.

They have asked their Mama to join them and also to drive the car to the beach.

They have invited their American 4th of July bear to join them. The American bear comes dressed and ready to enjoy the 4th of July beach party.

The sock monkeys are so happy that they have a sunny day. Sunny weather is so important because going to the beach in the rain is not as much fun.

There are many, many activities and games planned. They are wondering where Puppy and Kitten are. They should have already arrived at their party!

Their Mama keeps forgetting that sock monkeys naturally speak sock monkey. As you can see, they are eager to learn English.

However, someday... they must begin learning Japanese, too! These monkeys live in Japan.

Here is Ken. He is wondering how to drive the car.

In Japan, it is very important to have the first day's outing to a park.

Ken has decided that today will be the sock monkeys first visit. However, Ken has just realized that he is not tall enough to drive the car. So, he has decided to ask me to drive them there.

It is hard to keep the sock monkeys' attention for another portrait in the sunshine.

Hana notices that there was a bird flying and decides to stand up. Kei jumps up to sit on the arm of the bench. Ken jumps up and holds onto the back of the bench and looks around. Ko is still looking at the azalea blossoms. And, Miki decides that sitting on the top edge of the bench gives her a better view, too!

Ken, Kei, and Hana keep chatting and laughing. They have never had so much fun! Ken is listening.

They keep saying that they are so happy that they could come to such a nice park on a sunny day!

As you can see, while their Mama is packing up things from their outing, they are playing in the front seat of the car.

Monkeys like to have fun. They cannot sit for too long.

Ko and Miki are playing with the steering wheel. Kei was checking all of meters in the car. Hana and Ken are sitting on the dashboard.

They are all ready to leave. It seems like their first day outing in the park was a fun and a happy success!

This is my advertising quilt block for the Digital Breast Cancer Awareness Quilt, featuring my image on the ribbon. A Flickr friend and fellow "quilter", Prairiekittin, supplied the beautiful candle and the text imaging for me. She's awesome. Don't forget to look at her stream! Here's the link to it... Prairiekittin.

mimitalks (who helped me with the imaging on this quilt block) is asking for anybody who is willing to follow her guidelines to do a block for the quilt. Here's the link to check all that out, view a short soundless video and pick up your block options. She'd love for you to be a part of it!

A special thank you to mimitalks for including me in her Breast Cancer Awareness Quilt.

Sock Monkeys in Japan

Everyone is asking, "How did my sock monkeys arrive in Yokohama, Japan?" "When did they arrive?" "Don't they need certain documents to become a permanent resident?" "They are originally from a foreign country, right?" "How can you adopt one?" "Is it hard to adopt a sock monkey?"

Well, for more than one year, I've been searching for sock monkeys. Yes, I live in Yokohama, Japan. I thought that it would be fun to have sock monkeys have adventures.

Living in Japan, there are so many things available. But, to find sock monkeys took some time.

I found them quite unexpectedly. Of course, they are found in many different places. But, where?

My suggestion... keep looking!

Sock monkeys are hiding!

Sock monkeys are playing!

Sock monkeys are "monkeying around"!

Now, Sock monkeys have arrived in Yokohama, Japan.

Sock monkeys are ready for their new adventures.

First there were two monkeys. Then, Ken and Hana, my original two monkeys, found out that there were more that were ready for adoption.

Ken and Hana took me to the airport. They surprised me and found three more. The new monkey's names are Ko, Miki, and Kei.

Their adventures are only just beginning!

My name is Kei.

My name is Kei.

Hi everyone... My name is Kei (actually pronounced in English as Kay) and has a Japanese (佳 ) meaning of beautiful.

I have to thank my Mama for her wonderful handmade designed clothes. My shirt is made from a traditional Japanese fabric. My Mama had to fix my ears and pierced my ears so that I could enjoy wearing pearl earings. I also have ribbon rosebuds on my shirt which my Mama handmade.

My name is Miki.

My name is Miki.

My name is Miki. My name has a lovely Japanese (美貴) meaning of beautifully precious. My Mama recently adopted me, my sister, and my brother. We are joining Ken and Hana.

My clothes are handmade by my Mama. Mama fixed my ears and pierced them. I have a headband and purse that are decorated with crystal beads. My skirt is a traditional Japanese linen fabric. I have a lovely pearl necklace.

Hi, my name is Ko.

Hi, my name is Ko.

Hi Everyone... My name is Ko and in Japanese [it is written like (航)] it means to travel on sea. I just came to live with Ken and Hana.

My Mama fixed my ears, gave me my smile, and made my clothes. I like the sea and that is why my handmade hat is a sailor's cap.

Here are Kei, Miki, and Ko.

Here are Kei, Miki, and Ko.

These three sock monkeys are now adopted. They were part of a surprise planned by Ken and Hana.

They are going to help our Mama say her prayers. They will enjoy studying with Ken and Hana. Also, there will be lots of monkey fun, too!
