The sock monkeys have invited their friends to join them at the beach. They have been so busy with making their plans.

They have asked their Mama to join them and also to drive the car to the beach.

They have invited their American 4th of July bear to join them. The American bear comes dressed and ready to enjoy the 4th of July beach party.

The sock monkeys are so happy that they have a sunny day. Sunny weather is so important because going to the beach in the rain is not as much fun.

There are many, many activities and games planned. They are wondering where Puppy and Kitten are. They should have already arrived at their party!

Back row: Miki
Front row (left to right): Ko, Kei, Hana, and Ken

Japanese sunken baths are best shared on the beach with friends!

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/martian_cat/2630373138/" title="Japanese sunken baths are best shared on the beach with friends! However, Ken has just realized that he is not tall enough to drive the car. So, he has decided to ask me to drive them there.

A group sock monkey portrait

Hooray, we made it. Immediately, he jumped up onto the back of the park bench for a closer look. As you can see, he likes looking at the pretty pink azalea blossoms.

Enjoying the sunshine...

It is hard to keep the sock monkeys' attention for another portrait in the sunshine.

Hana notices that there was a bird flying and decides to stand up. Kei jumps up to sit on the arm of the bench. Ken jumps up and holds onto the back of the bench and looks around. Ko is still looking at the azalea blossoms. And, Miki decides that sitting on the top edge of the bench gives her a better view, too!

A discussion

Ken, Kei, and Hana keep chatting and laughing. "When did they arrive?" "Don't they need certain documents to become a permanent resident?" "They are originally from a foreign country, right?" "How can you adopt one?" "Is it hard to adopt a sock monkey?"

Well, for more than one year, I've been searching for sock monkeys. Yes, I live in Yokohama, Japan. I thought that it would be fun to have sock monkeys have adventures.

Living in Japan, there are so many things available. But, to find sock monkeys took some time.

I found them quite unexpectedly. Of course, they are found in many different places. But, where?

My suggestion... keep looking!

Sock monkeys are hiding!

Sock monkeys are playing!

Sock monkeys are "monkeying around"!

Now, Sock monkeys have arrived in Yokohama, Japan.

Sock monkeys are ready for their new adventures.

First there were two monkeys. Then, Ken and Hana, my original two monkeys, found out that there were more that were ready for adoption.

Ken and Hana took me to the airport. They surprised me and found three more. The new monkey's names are Ko, Miki, and Kei.

Their adventures are only just beginning!

more later...

Come and meet Kei, Miki, and Ko. They, also, need new clothes.

And, Ken and Hana will begin to say their daily prayers with the new monkeys.

Gifts for sock monkeys.

Ken and Hana have prepared gifts for their new pals. There are two new girl monkeys and one new boy monkey.

And, Ken and Hana will begin to say their daily prayers with the new monkeys.

Stay tuned for the new sock monkey adventures!

more later...

Ken and Hana believe car safety is important!

Ken and Hana proudly shows everyone that they believe wearing a seat belt in a car is important and keeps them safe.

more later...

Ken and Hana say "Hello!" They are here!

To answer a question... I did a lot of the finishing on them. They did not look like this when they came to live with me! I did lots of correcting of their appearance so that they look like twins. Plus, I finished their clothes and handmade their accessories. The socks were purchased as a gift from my hubby and are are for newborns.

My name is Hana.

My human Mama has given me the name of Hana.
In original Japanese, Hana （花）means flower or blossom.

"Can you imagine... she believes that I am as precious as a flower?"

My name is Ken.

My human Mama calls me Ken. In original Japanese, Ken （健）means strong and in good health.

"To keep me healthy, I had better learn more about the kitty of the house who is called Megumi (which means blessed or grace in Japanese). Here I am studying a book titled "The Wisdom of Cats". And, I am already asking, "Are cats really this wise?"

Ken promises...

To help his Mama with saying her prayers for good health!

Also, he will help her with praying for others, too!

Hana promises...

She will help her Mama always look at lovely flowers each day.

Hana will help with her Mama's prayers, too!

Ken and Hana, together...

Ken and Hana, together, promise to help their Mama to say her prayers.
And, as you can see, they have started to study together.

Ken and Hana begin their adventures!

To tell you the truth, I have looked all over Japan for these sock monkeys. And, once I found them, they needed to have clothes. To answer your question, I made their clothing accessories.

All of their clothes are original. I even used a pair of socks to make Ken's hat.
The flowered band and handbag for Hana are made from a pair of socks.

Hana is wearing freshwater pearl earrings. She also has a pearl necklace. However, the socks on their feet, a gift from my husband, are really for newborn babies.

Lastly, Ken is about 4 inches taller than Hana. And, this is an answer to an email I received from someone.

more later...
